We’ve been working with Empire Fighting Chance to create a technology room for the young people taking part in its programmes.
Empire Fighting Chance is a Bristol charity that uses non-contact boxing alongside mentoring, therapeutic support and careers guidance. Its team knows the young people it works with and understands the support that will be useful to them. Our role was to bring our technology experience to the project.
The room gives young people a place to use technology and work on the professional skills that form part of Empire’s programmes. It sits alongside the boxing, mentoring and other support already available.
We wanted our contribution to be practical. Rather than making a one-off donation, we could help create something that would become part of Empire’s day-to-day work.
The team recently told us about a young woman who joined the boxing programme and later began helping at the amateur club. Empire supported her through a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification, and she will now lead boxing sessions for the next cohort.
It’s a great example of how young people can progress through Empire, take on new roles and share their experience with others joining the programme.
This partnership has also reminded us that business support doesn’t always have to be financial. Organisations can often contribute their own skills, time or resources in a way that responds to what a charity actually needs.
For Office Tech Suite, that meant helping Empire create a space that supports its existing work. We’re pleased to be part of the project and look forward to seeing how the room is used.
